This, my dear readers (who never bother to comment), is a physalis --another fruit I have fallen for in Berlin. My mentor introduced it to me the other day. It certainly packs a punch: it has a very distinctive flavor. I think I have seen it before but always thought that it was only decorative.You apparently may know it as a cape gooseberry?

Cape gooseberry! Never have I heard of such a flora! Too bad you can't bring one back on the airplane :)
